For the moment...

Bella has a new aversion to yellow. First, because she swore that it makes her need to pee when she even looks at yellow. Now she just insists that she wear no yellow. And no coloring with yellow. Yes, her suns are now orange.

We just roll with it.

Bella also has a new dislike for school. THIS one is getting old fast. Every day is a school day check.
"Momma? Am I going to school today? No? Am I going to school the day after this day? Yes? *whining begins on cue* But I don't wanna go to schoooooooool!"

Whip. me.

Ava is learning to be more social. Slowly. Ever so slowly. Usually when anyone says hello to her, she turns her whole body away and buries her face into me (because she is permanently attached to me, you know). It is almost embarrassing. She comes across as a little brat, I'm afraid.
She's bashful and I know what it is like to be misunderstood because of it.

The thing about Ava is that you are either in or you are out. She's her own reality show. There's no middle ground and no immunity unless you are on her Love List. And the list is really short. But recently she's added a few people. Thankfully, one of those people include her uncle, my brother.

Now we hear about Uncle C constantly. He's been added to her "I love..." list. Every day we go through her list of loves. His name comes with an asterisk. "Unca Clayton is a seely guy, Momma!" Followed by a giggle.

Sweet baby girl.

My girls are getting too big, too fast. We were all snoozing in the big bed in the wee hours of the morning and I could feel eyes staring at me. Usually it is Mia, the rubenesque cat, but this time it was Hubby. He said later that it sort of surprised him and made him a little sad to see how long and lean his babies have become. Even Ava's Buddha belly is disappearing. Bella has no more baby fat. She has very long legs and her daddy's nose. Ava looks like her mother. So all that makes Hubby okay with his baby girls growing.

Life is hectic and stressful so we crave all our moments of togetherness. Just being in the same room makes us all happy and content. I hope it is always that way.

Bubby still wishes that Izzy would come up at night to sleep with us...but now he's a "big boy" and never does....it makes us so sad.

Izzy also hates school. The one thing that has helped is that I printed off a calender from Microsoft office for two months at a time and stick it on the fridge. Any event that Izzy has coming up...school days, a birthday party to attend etc. goes on the calender. It's amazing how many less tears that take place if he knows from day to day whether he's going to school or looking forward to an event.

OK rambling now -------

The teachers send a calendar home at the beginning of each month full of what they'll be doing. Bella loves Susie Science and when they get to use the computers. I'm not sure why her sudden dislike has surfaced other than maybe she's just ready for a break.

Oh, and she doesn't want to poop at school. That's a whole other issue!

It's good to see you back again...I was missing your posts!

I can totally relate to Ava and how her shyness or lack of social ability comes across as bratty. Chloe was just like that! She would frown at people instead of smile. She was permanently attached to me. I had to apologize for her behavior towards others constantly. Then one day...she became happy with the world. She stopped being shy and everyone was her friend. She smiled at people. She said "hello". I had no idea this day would ever happen...but was so, so happy it did. She decided to 'come out of her shell' at the end of her 4th year.

Good luck. But you have one huge advantage over me...you are accepting Ava how and where she is, not trying to change her. That was a real struggle for me. I had these ideas and hopes for what my little girl should and would be. I transferred those ideals to her way too often and instead of loving her thru it, I'm sad to say I got way too frustrated with her, way too often, for just being her.

Cori, my patience with Ava's constant frinkle face only goes so far. It is frustrating when her shyness translates into bad manners!

However, the other day Ava actually smiled and WAVED at a random lady who talked to her! I was so shocked, I asked Ava if she had waved to the nice lady. ha!

Fortunately (at least it is good for now) Ava worships her social butterfly sister so maybe she'll learn to say "hello" one day without morphing into a deaf mute.

Sweet! DOesn't the whine whine whine make you want to throw yourself off of a bridge some days? (Not seriously. Just figuratively. Like a whole toblerone to yourself kind of a bridge.)

In case you didn't know, it is June. Just checking in. Hee hee.
